ELIZABETH McCRINDLE

 

  From an early age I could always be found with a pencil and sketch pad in hand. In those early days the subject matter would almost certainly be horses or ponies. I still can't make up my mind if I am a horse lover who paints or an artist who happens to paint horses. Either way they both play a big part in my life and I couldn't function without them.

  I am a self taught artist in as much as I did not receive any formal training it just seems to come naturally. Not always of course, there are many times when nothing goes right, usually when a deadline is looming.

  For twenty four years I worked in the Design Studio of BMK an International Carpet Manufacturer. Some of the happiest days of my life were spent there and I was lucky to be working with a slightly mad but very talented bunch of people. It was through the encouragement of Helen Turner one of the head designers that I started to paint seriously mostly at evenings and at weekends.

  During the years I have been fortunate in receiving commissions to paint horses, ponies, dogs, cats e.t.c. but it was when I decided to paint full time that I widened my horizon and now I gladly turn my hand to any subject that takes my fancy. I am also happy to say that I am a member of Octagon a group of West of Scotland artists which includes Helen Turner, James Orr, Frank Colclough, James Harrigan, Lin Patullo, Peter Nardini and David Scott-Martin.

  I have exhibited in many one man and group exhibitions. I have exhibited in:-
